U2 have not announced a European tour for 2027. As of 6 October 2026 there are no concerts in continental Europe or Ireland on the calendar for next year. What the band have announced is a new studio album, Carnaval de Luz, due on 13 November 2026 on Island Records, their first album of new original material since Songs of Experience in 2017.
2026 has been a busy year for the Dublin band without being a touring year. They released two surprise EPs, Days of Ash in February and Easter Lily in April, the first records with Larry Mullen Jr. since he sat out the Las Vegas Sphere residency of 2023 and 2024. On 25 September 2026, fifty years after their first rehearsal in Mullen's kitchen, they played short sets at their old school, Mount Temple Comprehensive, and from the balcony of Bewley's Café on Grafton Street in Dublin.
Their last full European tour ended at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin on 13 November 2018. This page explains what is and is not known about 2027 and then goes back through more than four decades of U2 concerts on the continent and in Ireland, from the club dates of 1981 to the stadium tours of the 1990s and 2000s and the arena runs of 2015 and 2018.
There is no official information about U2 concerts in Europe in 2027. The band have not announced a tour to accompany Carnaval de Luz, and no venue, city or date for next year has been published. The album's lead single, 'Street of Dreams', came out on 7 July 2026 and 'Silencio' followed on 24 September 2026.
U2 have not toured Europe since 2018. Their main live project since then was U2:UV Achtung Baby Live, a 40-date residency that opened Sphere in the Las Vegas Valley between September 2023 and March 2024, with Bram van den Berg of Krezip on drums in place of the recovering Mullen. It sold 663,000 tickets and has not been staged anywhere else.
In the past, a new U2 album has usually been followed by a tour within a year: No Line on the Horizon by the U2 360° Tour in 2009, Songs of Innocence by the Innocence + Experience Tour in 2015, Songs of Experience by the Experience + Innocence Tour in 2018. That is a pattern, not an announcement, and nothing about 2027 has been confirmed.
Until the band announce dates, treat any list of 2027 European concerts, any 'presale code' and any ticket listing for a U2 show next year with suspicion. Nothing is on sale.
U2's first concerts were in Ireland: the Dandelion Market afternoon shows in Dublin in 1979 and the National Stadium on 26 February 1980, where Island Records' Bill Stewart saw them and offered a deal. The continent followed on the October Tour in autumn 1981, with club and hall dates at the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, the Élysée Montmartre in Paris, the Paradiso in Amsterdam and Rotterdam on 1 November 1981. The War Tour of December 1982 returned to Utrecht, Groningen, Deinze and Genk and ended with three nights at the SFX in Dublin.
The Unforgettable Fire Tour of 1984 and 1985 moved them into arenas. Autumn 1984 brought Paris's Espace Balard, two nights at Forest National in Brussels and two at the Ahoy in Rotterdam; early 1985 took in Offenbach, Cologne, Mannheim, Munich, Milan, two nights in Bologna and Bercy in Paris on 10 February 1985. That summer they played the Nürburgring, Stuttgart's Neckarstadion and Münster, and at home Croke Park on 29 June and the Lee Fields in Cork on 25 August 1985.
The Joshua Tree Tour of 1987 brought their first long run of European stadium nights. It took in the Stadio Flaminio in Rome on 27 May, two nights in Modena, Le Zénith and the Hippodrome de Vincennes in Paris, Cologne's Müngersdorfer Stadion, two nights at Rotterdam's Feijenoord Stadion, the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid on 15 July and two nights at Munich's Olympiahalle, with Croke Park on 27 and 28 June and Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork on 8 August 1987. The Lovetown Tour closed the decade with Bercy, three nights in Dortmund, the RAI in Amsterdam, the Point Depot in Dublin over New Year 1989 and four nights at the Ahoy in January 1990.
Zoo TV reached Europe in May 1992 with arenas, from Bercy on 7 May through Barcelona, Milan, Munich, Frankfurt and Dortmund to Rotterdam on 15 June. The stadium leg of 1993, known as Zooropa, opened with three nights at the Feijenoord Stadion from 9 May, then played Lisbon, Oviedo, Madrid, Nantes, Werchter, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Bremen, Cologne, Berlin, Strasbourg, Paris, Verona, Rome, Naples, Turin, Marseille and Bologna before ending at the Goffertpark in Nijmegen on 3 August 1993. PopMart in 1997 played airfields and stadiums from Rotterdam to Reggio Emilia, with Warsaw, Prague, Helsinki and two nights at Lansdowne Road in Dublin; on 23 September 1997 it took U2 to Sarajevo.
The Elevation Tour of summer 2001 went back indoors: Forum Copenhagen, the Globe in Stockholm, the Kölnarena, Bercy, Zürich, Vienna, three nights at the GelreDome in Arnhem, the Sportpaleis in Antwerp and the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, plus the Stadio delle Alpi in Turin and the Waldbühne in Berlin, and two shows at Slane Castle on 25 August and 1 September 2001. Vertigo returned to stadiums in 2005, from the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on 10 June to Lisbon on 14 August, with three nights at Croke Park, two at the Stade de France, three at the Amsterdam ArenA and two at San Siro in Milan.
The U2 360° Tour began at the Camp Nou in Barcelona on 30 June 2009 and filled stadiums across the continent in 2009 and 2010, including three nights at Croke Park in July 2009 and a show at Rome's Stadio Olimpico on 8 October 2010. The band then returned to arenas with multi-night stands: four nights each in Amsterdam, Berlin, Barcelona and Dublin on the Innocence + Experience Tour in 2015, and four each in Paris, Milan and Dublin on Experience + Innocence in 2018, between which The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 played stadiums in Berlin, Rome, Barcelona, Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels.
The table below lists 271 documented European concerts by U2 between 1981 and 2026, with the most shows in Dublin (28), Paris (21), Amsterdam (17), Berlin (12), Rotterdam (11), Barcelona (10). It is not exhaustive: it only includes documented shows.

Across the 15 most recent documented European concerts with a full song list (3 October 2018 to 25 September 2026), these are the songs that came up most often. Titles only — set lists change from night to night.
Early in their career U2 were regulars on the Belgian festival circuit. They played Torhout and Werchter on 2 and 3 July 1983 and again on 6 and 7 July 1985. In 1982 they appeared at Vilar de Mouros in northern Portugal on 3 August, and in 1983 at the Printemps de Bourges in April, Phoenix Park Racecourse in Dublin on 14 August and the Kalvøya Festival near Oslo.
Later, the Werchter festival site became a regular stop for their own stadium productions: the Zooropa tour played the Festivalpark on 29 May 1993 and PopMart on 25 July 1997. Since then, U2's European concerts have been their own headline shows.
U2 formed in Dublin in 1976, when Larry Mullen Jr., then 14, put a note on the notice board at Mount Temple Comprehensive School looking for musicians. The first practice, on 25 September 1976 in Mullen's kitchen, brought together Paul Hewson (Bono), David Evans (the Edge), Adam Clayton and others. After a few months as Feedback and then The Hype, the four-piece became U2 in March 1978 and won a talent contest in Limerick that month. Paul McGuinness became their manager later that year.
They signed with Island Records in March 1980 and released Boy that year. War (1983), with 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' and 'Pride (In the Name of Love)', was their first UK No. 1. The Unforgettable Fire (1984), produced with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, and their set at Live Aid in 1985 made them one of the biggest live acts in the world, and The Joshua Tree (1987), with 'With or Without You' and 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For', sold 25 million copies.
After the backlash to Rattle and Hum (1988), the band reinvented themselves with Achtung Baby (1991), recorded partly at Hansa Studios in Berlin, and the multimedia Zoo TV Tour. Zooropa (1993) and Pop (1997) continued the experiment. All That You Can't Leave Behind (2000) and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (2004) brought a more direct sound, and the U2 360° Tour of 2009 to 2011 held the records for the most-attended and highest-grossing tour until 2019.
Songs of Innocence (2014) and Songs of Experience (2017) were followed by Songs of Surrender (2023), 40 re-recorded songs, and the Sphere residency. U2 have sold an estimated 170 million records and won 22 Grammy Awards and eight Brit Awards; they entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. Pollstar ranked them the second-highest-grossing live act from 1980 to 2022.

No city has seen more U2 concerts than Dublin. Croke Park alone has hosted them in 1985, 1987, 2005, 2009 and 2017; the three 2009 nights won Top Boxscore at the Billboard Touring Awards. Lansdowne Road had PopMart in 1997, Slane Castle the Elevation shows of 2001, and the 3Arena four nights each in November 2015 and November 2018.
The Point Depot shows of December 1989 have a place in the band's story: on 30 December, before a hometown crowd, Bono said it was 'the end of something for U2' and that the band had to go away for a while. Their next album was Achtung Baby. On 25 September 2026 they came back to where it started, with a seven-song set at Mount Temple Comprehensive School and eleven songs from the balcony of Bewley's Café, including the new single 'Silencio'.
Paris is U2's most visited city on the continent. They played the Élysée Montmartre in 1981, Espace Balard in 1984, Bercy in 1985, 1989, 1992 and 2001, Le Zénith and the Hippodrome de Vincennes in 1987, Vincennes again in 1993, the Parc des Princes in 1997 and the Stade de France in 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2017.
The city also saw the most emotional nights of the 2015 tour. Two shows at the AccorHotels Arena planned for 14 and 15 November 2015 were postponed after the attacks of 13 November and moved to 6 and 7 December. On the final night, Eagles of Death Metal, who had been playing the Bataclan on the night of the attacks, joined U2 for 'People Have the Power'. The show was filmed as Innocence + Experience: Live in Paris. In 2018 the band's four Paris nights were the highest-grossing market of the tour, with 72,412 tickets sold.
Germany has had more U2 concerts than any other country on the continent, from the Unforgettable Fire arena dates of 1985 to the Olympiastadion in Berlin in 1993, 2005, 2009 and 2017. Achtung Baby was recorded partly at Hansa Studios in Berlin, and the Zoo TV stage that toured it was lit in part by Trabant cars, one of which is now on display at a Hard Rock Cafe in Berlin.
Berlin also hosted the end of the last European tour. On 1 September 2018 the Mercedes-Benz Arena show stopped after five songs when Bono suffered a complete loss of voice. The date was moved to 13 November 2018 and became the tour's finale, filmed as eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE: Live in Berlin, with a 'Berlin suite' of songs from Achtung Baby and Zooropa such as 'Zoo Station', 'The Fly' and 'Stay (Faraway, So Close!)'.
The Low Countries have been on every U2 tour since 1981. Rotterdam's Feijenoord Stadion hosted two nights in 1987, three in 1993 and two in 1997, and the Ahoy seven arena shows between 1984 and 1992. In Amsterdam the band played the ArenA in 2005, 2009 and 2017 and the Ziggo Dome four times in September 2015 and twice in October 2018. In 2001 they filled the GelreDome in Arnhem for three nights.
Belgium followed the same path from Brussels clubs to Forest National, the Sportpaleis in Antwerp and the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, where they played in 2005, twice in September 2010 and in August 2017.
Italy and Spain have given U2 some of their largest crowds. Rome has seen them at the Stadio Flaminio in 1987 and 1993, the Urbe airport in 1997 and the Stadio Olimpico in 2005, 2010 and twice in 2017. Milan hosted two nights at San Siro in 2005 and 2009 and four at the Mediolanum Forum in 2018, with 50,661 tickets sold.
In Spain, Barcelona's Camp Nou staged the Vertigo show of August 2005 and the first two concerts of the U2 360° Tour, on 30 June and 2 July 2009, while Madrid, San Sebastián, Seville and Oviedo have all had stadium shows. Portugal has seen them in Lisbon on four tours and in Coimbra for two nights in October 2010.
U2's most recent full European concerts, in autumn 2018, ran to 21 to 24 songs. The Berlin finale on 13 November 2018 opened with 'The Blackout', 'Lights of Home', 'I Will Follow' and 'Gloria', went through 'Beautiful Day', 'Zoo Station', 'The Fly', 'Elevation', 'Vertigo' and 'Pride (In the Name of Love)', and ended with 'City of Blinding Lights', 'One', 'Love Is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way' and '13 (There Is a Light)'.
The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 played that album in full in the middle of the set. At Croke Park on 22 July 2017 the show opened with 'Sunday Bloody Sunday', 'New Year's Day', 'Bad' and 'Pride', then ran from 'Where the Streets Have No Name' to 'Mothers of the Disappeared' before an encore that included 'Miss Sarajevo', 'Beautiful Day' and 'One'.
The short anniversary sets in Dublin on 25 September 2026 mixed early songs such as 'I Will Follow', 'Out of Control' and '40' with 'Vertigo', 'With or Without You' and 'Silencio' from Carnaval de Luz. They are the only U2 performances in Europe since 2018 documented in the setlist archive.
There are no U2 tickets on sale for Europe in 2027, because no concerts have been announced. Any website selling seats for next year, or offering a 'presale code', is not official.
For past tours, U2 sold tickets through official outlets in each country, often with an early presale for members of the band's fan club. If a tour is announced, use only those channels and the venues' own websites, and use only the official resale platform of the event if you need to buy or sell a resold ticket.
